UK Watchdog Clears Online Gambling Cos.’ Merger Plan

Law360 (November 16, 2020, 6:45 PM EST) — British competition authorities gave their blessing Monday to Evolution Gaming’s plan to buy out gambling solutions business NetEnt for 19.6 billion Swedish kronor (about $2.27 billion) in a stock swap deal unveiled in June.

The U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority opened an antitrust probe in September into the proposed acquisition of NetEnt by Evolution Gaming Group AB, a Swedish gambling technology company. Evolution had previously called the proposal a “landmark” deal that would move it toward its goal of becoming the world leader in the online casino industry.
