- Promoter Frank Warren has just offered fans another exciting update on Tyson Fury.
Tyson Fury hasn’t fought since an incredible 7th-round TKO over Deontay Wilder in February. Many expected to see a trilogy fight with Wilder take place, yet this fight has failed to come together. This week, promoter Frank Warren offered another exciting update on Tyson Fury.
Today, we’re going to talk about when Fury might step back into the ring. We’ll also discuss some possible opponents for the “Gypsy King.”
Let’s get into it!
Deontay Wilder Continues to Hit Fury With Cheating Accusations
Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder are two vibrant characters with massive fan bases. Unsurprisingly, when the first squared off back in December of 2018, fans around the world turned in. The first fight between these men ended up being one of the best in heavyweight boxing history.
A little over a year later, they competed in a rematch. Prior to the fight, fans seemed torn on who would come out on top. Online sports betting sites had the odds extremely close, with most listing Fury as the slight favorite.
It didn’t take long to see who came into this fight with the advantage. Tyson Fury switched up his strategy from the first fight and immediately began pressuring Wilder. He battered Wilder round after round before finally earning a TKO finish in the seventh round.
Interestingly, Deontay Wilder has been claiming foul play on Fury’s side. Over the past nine months, he’s made several serious accusations against the heavyweight king. That includes glove tampering, using hand weights, and even poisoning Wilder before the fight.
It’s been a bizarre turn of events. Most analysts have shot these rumors down. Not many believe that Fury cheated in any way during the bout. Wilder isn’t changing his stance, though, and continues to push the cheating narrative on social media.
Everyone has been waiting to hear when Fury would step back into the ring. This week, the world received another hint at when to expect the “Gypsy King” competing again.
Frank Warren Offers Another Exciting Update on Tyson Fury
Many now believe that Tyson Fury is the best heavyweight boxer on the planet. He is 30-0-1 as a professional and holds the WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles. Everyone wants to see him fighting, regardless of who it’s against.
This week, Frank Warren spoke with the media about when Fury will fight again. The promoter claims that the possibility of him fighting on December 5th is no longer on the table. Instead, his team is interested in a date this February or March.
To the surprise of many, there’s still a chance that Fury can take on Deontay Wilder next. This issue is being discussed by several different parties. Nothing is set in stone, yet this massive trilogy bout is still on the table as a possibility.
Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn, who represents fellow top heavyweight Anthony Joshua, told the media that the legal battle between Wilder and Fury will likely take months to resolve.
“We try and avoid the mess, and keep discipline and focus on what we’re doing, and the path for AJ has always been clear, with the ups and downs of the Ruiz fight, and getting that rematch over the line. But we know what we’re doing. December 12, it was announced probably eight weeks before the fight, we’re focused on the victory,” he said. “That’s their [Fury and Wilder’s] business, it’s a right mess either way, and it’s not going to resolve itself any time soon. Hopefully we can just make sure that if Anthony Joshua can beat Kubrat Pulev on December 12, then the path is clear for AJ against Fury in 2021.”
No one knows what will happen. For now, Tyson Fury’s team seems focused on a return in early 2021. We should know more about who his opponent will be soon. Make sure to stay tuned for updates!
Joshua vs. Pulev is Now Less Than a Month Away!
Many are excited to hear Warren’s update on Tyson Fury. Fans have been waiting to see his return to the ring. With his status as one of the best heavyweights, it’s guaranteed that he will be taking on a big name the next time he competes.
Fury isn’t the only major heavyweight scheduled to compete sometime in the near future. On December 12th, Anthony Joshua will be fighting against Kubrat Pulev. It’s one of the biggest fights of the year.
The main discussion in boxing now seems to be whether Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury is better. Both are based in the UK and hold several major titles. A fight between these men would likely be one of the biggest in the history of boxing.
Joshua will need to get past Pulev before this can happen, though. At the moment, Bovada lists the UK champion as the -1100 favorite. Joshua has all of the advantages in this matchup and many believe he’ll score a knockout in this one.
Kubrat Pulev is considered one of the toughest boxers in the world. He’s won eight-straight fights heading into this matchup. At 39 years old, however, he is likely past his fighting prime. He’s currently listed as the +650 underdog in this matchup.
