NBA Betting Preview: Orlando Magic vs. Toronto Raptors – Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021

Our NBA season has eclipsed the quarter mark, and so far we can see that the Western Conference is loaded compared to the east.

We have an Eastern Conference dual taking place tonight when the Orlando Magic go on the road to the Toronto Raptors.

Remember, due to COVID protocols, the Toronto Raptors play their home games in Tampa, so this is not too far of a trip for the Magic.

Both of these teams are scraping the bottom of the barrel in the NBA, and have struggled so far this season.

Toronto has taken the biggest decline, even though they were both playoff teams last season.

Let’s break down the matchup and help you determine where to put your money.

Orlando Magic Betting Preview: A Beat Up Season

Orlando has made some solid moves in drafting and in the trade market the past couple of seasons.

It’s unfortunate they couldn’t play this year with Jonathan Isaac and then Markelle Fultz also went down with a torn ACL.

What you have left is Nikola Vucevic being the focal point of the offense, and rookie Cole Anthony playing more minutes than we ever would have thought.

It’s tough to see this team night in and night out, as this season appears to be more of a lost cause than anything else.

I like how their front office has fared, but putting together wins is difficult.

Against Toronto, I think they are going to struggle to match up with Kyle Lowry and Fred Van Fleet. Those two will be at the center of their defensive gameplan.

Toronto Raptors Betting Preview: Nosedive for the Raptors

It feels like Toronto brought home the title ages ago, but now this season they have been on a hard path.

First, they lost their ability to actually play at home. Moving their home games to Florida is tough and they have been playing there all season.

Second, their team isn’t that good. Lowry and Van Fleet are the only bright spots in an otherwise dismal offense.

We were used to them putting out a squad of five where anyone could get a bucket, but now we see how the mighty have fallen and they don’t have much to bank on.

They should be able to pick up a win against Orlando, minus the fact that they are going to have some trouble controlling Vucevic on the floor.

Coming into this Eastern Conference matchup, our friends at JazzSports have the Toronto Raptors favored at home by 5.5 points.

These teams are similar in record and this game is right in Orlando’s back yard.

To be totally honest, I have yet to like what I am seeing from either of these teams.

I think the best player on the floor is going to be Nikola Vucevic, and he is going to have a monster game on the glass which will lead to easy buckets.

I’m taking Orlando for this one.
