Dolphins Win Tua’s Debut
The Dolphins came off a bye in Week 8 and while making a change at quarterback. Ryan Fitzpatrick hit the bench while rookie Tua Tagovailoa got his first start. While the final score looked good as the Dolphins beat the Los Angeles Rams 28-17, a deeper dive indicates that there are reasons for concern.

The Rams mostly self-destructed, coughing up four turnovers in the first half, one of which directly led to a touchdown. The Dolphins also scored on special teams with a punt return for a touchdown. While the score looked good, the Dolphins offense was completely putrid.
Tagovailoa finished the day just 12-of-22 for 93 yards and a touchdown. His QBR was a paltry 25.1 as the team finished with just eight first downs. While it was his first career start, the performance was concerning – especially since fellow rookie quarterbacks Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow have looked great right off the bat.
Just How Good Are The Cardinals?
The Cardinals will return off a bye and enter Week 9 with a record of 5-2. Three of their five wins have come against the feeble NFC East teams and a fourth win came against the San Francisco 49ers, who are clearly not the same team as last year.
The Cardinals had credibility concerns – especially after losing to Detroit and Carolina – but that changed in Week 8.

The Cards finally picked up a signature win when they became the first squad to beat the Seattle Seahawks this season. In some ways, they were lucky to pick up the win as they trailed by 10 points in the fourth with just 6:44 remaining but they eventually pulled it out in overtime.
Quarterback Kyler Murray had his best game of the season, passing for 360 yards, three touchdowns and a pick, and rushing for another 67 yards and a touchdown. This is still a relatively young team that continues to grow by the week, so the victory over Seattle should serve as a big boost of confidence.
What’s The Best Bet?
The Dolphins offensive performance last week is concerning and we’ve seen nothing out of Tua to think that things will change. Defense and special teams are what bailed them out. While the Dolphins defense is a quality unit – they’ve allowed just 34 points over the last three games – they won’t be able to do enough here.

The Cardinals are fresh off a bye and won’t have to score too many points to cover the spread here. Even something like 17 or 21 might do it as the Dolphins offense just hasn’t proved they can move the ball consistently with Tua. Lay the points here.
Prediction: Cardinals -3.5 (-120)
