Bowl Games have already started, but here we get our first Saturday of the bowl season. There are only few games in store, but they still offer a good opportunity for a parlay. A College Football parlay is a great way to incorporate several games and have some fun with the chance of hitting big. three sides pays nice odds of +593 with DraftKings Sportsbook.
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs. Georgia State Panthers -3.5 (110), 3:30 p.m ET
There is not a lot of buzz for this one, but it’s Conference USA vs. Sun Belt so we should get a decent game. Western Kentucky finished their season strong. They won their final three games and covered in four of their last five. It was definitely helpful that they found some offense, scoring 37 and 38 points in their final two games. Prior to that they had not scored more than 20 points in a game all season long. The defense has not been good enough to support a team that averaged 18 ppg on offense for the season.
Georgia State is not elite–even by Sun Belt standards–but they can score. They averaged over 30 ppg for the season and even though they got whacked 51-0 against Coastal Carolina, that game was a definite outlier and somewhat COVID-19 influenced. They have a balanced offensive attack and are somewhat balanced overall considering they give up as many points as they score. Neither one of these teams is close to elite in either area, but I guess this is kind of offense vs. defense situation. I am leaning towards the Panthers as small favorites as they just need to keep up what they have been doing. Other than that Coastal game, they have moved the ball well and if they put some points on the board it will put a lot of pressure on the Hilltoppers.
Liberty Flames +7 vs. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (-110), 7:30 p.m ET
As much as I love the Chanticleers this season, this line is a little ridiculous. Liberty might be just as good as Coastal Carolina, even though they have one loss. That one loss came to NC State and happened because their field goal was blocked with essentially no time remaining. The Flames are an independent, so they had no championship game and were last seen shutting out UMass 45-0.
What is crazy about the Flames is they have an even better offense than the Chanticleers. At least their rushing offense is better, averaging 252.1 yards per game. Their defense is better too, which is why we are likely going to see a very close game. With no opt-outs for either team being reported, this is honestly a game that either side could win. At full strength, the Liberty Flames are just as good as Coastal Carolina, so I will gladly take the touchdown head start in what should be the best bowl game of the weekend.
UTSA Roadrunners vs. Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns -13.5 (-110)
Louisiana-Lafayette has one of the best defenses in the country and have caught their groove covering their last three games and have done so by an average of 13.8 points per game. UTSA already struggles passing the ball and this will be even more of a problem against Louisiana-Lafayette’s passing defense which is fifth in the country. This will lead UTSA to fully lean on running back Sincere McCormick to do all of their work offensively. When the offense becomes one dimensional, it becomes very easy for the defense to stop the run. Louisiana-Lafayette can put up points in a hurry and with this defensive matchup they should be able to cover this spread easily. Take the Ragin’ Cajuns in this one sided matchup.
